Each year, British Orienteering celebrates the people and clubs who power our sport — the clubs, coaches, mappers and volunteers who make every event possible. Today with these awards, we honour the passion, dedication and innovation that keep orienteering thriving across the UK

The awards for 2025 were announced at the JK this Easter weekend and Welsh clubs and individuals were well represented :

Continued Contribution to Orienteering Award – Niall Reynolds (SBOC)

Niall has guided SBOC for over a decade, strengthening the club through COVID and driving major development and schools initiatives. He organised key events like Croeso 2024 and the British Championships, and he’s always supporting others—whether mentoring new officials or organising trips across the UK and abroad. His leadership has shaped Welsh orienteering for years.

Club of the Year – Eryri Orienteering Club

Eryri has grown from under 20 members to 70 in two years through consistent training, a full event programme, and a welcoming culture. Their street‑O and park series have brought in new athletes, families, and juniors—many now competing nationally. With strong volunteer development and community partnerships, Eryri has revitalised orienteering in North Wales.

Young Volunteer of the Year – Joel Taylor (BUMC/SBOC)

Joel transformed orienteering at Bath, running training, organising competitions, and inspiring record student participation. He delivered the club’s first EUOC event, led the team to its best results, and brought countless newcomers into the sport. His energy and commitment have left a lasting impact.
